Ok so it all started when I decided to go with Dishnetwork after reading a local ad offering 4 rooms, plus free DVR reciever. I called up to place an order for 180 channel package, HD channels, 622 DVR reciever, 942 HD DVR reciever, free premium channels for 3 months, and first month of service free! Sounds like a great deal huh? Yeah right
![]() scheduled install and tries to come early, unfortunatley I have to work that day. That night Dishnetwork call to confirm scheduled install for Oct. 5th, I tell them "YES! COME!" Fast forward to Oct. 5th, no installer shows by 4pm. I call Dishnetwork. They tell me they have me scheduled on the October 6th (a day I am sheduled to work)! I tell then "NO! Just cancel the S*@! all together, you have me scheduled for today, you even called to confirm it! So they give me yet another free month and schedule me over a week from now! The only thing keeping me from cancelling alltogeter is that I already have the 942, and they do have the better HD package. However I can see why Directv is still considered number one. I have never had them miss an appointment. I wonder if switching now to DN, might be a big mistake in the future. My wife couln't believe I am still considering an install. I can't either. |

I was annoyed when my installer showed up 2 hours late. If I'd had your experience, I probably would've packed the 942 up and shipped it back with a love letter attached (tongue in cheek). On the flip side, if they ever actually show... sounds like you have one hell of a deal coming on the first few months of programming. Best of luck!

![]() They are a crappy company and i'm surprised they've been so successful for so long. ![]() |

Gotta say, I never have had a bad experience with Dish. Had them for two years, they made the appointment and install went perfectly. I don't know if things chagned, but when I got them in 05, I had no problem.
I hate Comcast, my whole family had bad experiences and I don't like that they will cost twice as much. |

I know this has been said many times by many people but I believe it cannot be stated enough. If at all possible order Dish through a LOCAL company. Every problem I've had(which aren't many) have been handled quickly and efficiently. I know it's of little consolation to those who are having trouble with an install or equipment but we can all learn from these incidents to go through a LOCAL company.

I was with DirectTV and contract had expired. Thought I would give Dish a try per the price and $ savings. This was a bad mistake. a Subcontractor came out and used a dirty "used" jack in one wall and created a large hole damaging the wall. The sub also installed receiver on roof at poor angle. The Sub also left and was unable to get the service up an operational. After two days and multiple phone calls I was able to get a DISH employed tech out. He fixed receiver on roof. tighten cables and then Lied and said the 4 tv's & Kangaroo Joeys were all fine. When he left, I changed the channel and instantly received the error messages and again the Kangaroo Joeys did not function properly. I went through two phone installs / resets with the tech support and was not able to get installed and operational. I then called and they scheduled someone to come out several days cause they were backlogged. After 3 more days of no service, I was done with Dish. They failed to install! When the tech arrived for the 5th re-install (they claim 3rd cause My "time" with the two phone re-installs with tech support do not count.) Anyway I had had it and wanted to give him the devices -he would not accept the devices and then after multiple and repeated calls to Dish then sent a box/label to ship everything back. Now months later I just received an early termination bill of double what it was suppose to be which is close to 500.00. Obviously I am currently in dispute with them seeking resolution to the extraordinarily absurd charges. They keep claiming I did not let the tech in for the 5th re-install so I am in the wrong and owe the early termination fee. DISH is a criminal organization and they hide behind legal acceptance clauses. They failed to deliver a service and now they want to charge me for failed installation and non operational service. I repeat don't accept the dish deal.. Dish is very dishonest and will not own up to their issues.

First, I'm wondering why the receiver was installed on the roof? Also, if the subcontractor couldn't get the system working, why was he didn't take everything with him when he left and cancel the install and you not owing anything at this point. Also, if he was using dirty equipment and damaging your wall you would even try to get Dish to still install? You come off like you understand the setup Dish uses, but then you mix up equipment and names used by Dish. I'm sorry, but your story seems a bit off.

Hey guys, when you're going to run one of these LONG no paragraph posts, how about hitting the return key a couple of times to break up the post.
It's too hard on my eyes to even get a few lines into one of these posts. I dumped DTV when we moved into our new home mainly because of the hard on that DTV has for the Pac 12 network. While some here might rant about better video with DTV, I personally don't see any difference. And for that claim to be valid, you would have to either have the two systems side-by-side with two identical display monitors. Or else, get the claim from someone like Consumer's Reports.
