Angry 722 extended end time issue

I have Dish service through a commercial provider, and I constantly have issues with the automatic extended recording not working properly for sporting events. For example, I recorded the Auburn v Alabama game that started at 2:30 today. The game was scheduled to end at 6:00, so the timer was automatically extended until 7:00. For whatever reason, the recording stopped at 6:00. Needless to say, this was not a good game to miss the ending on. I reported this issue to Dish Network in January, but have not seen any response or changes. This is the 2nd receiver to have these problems, so I believe it is a software issue. Has anyone else heard of this problem? Any ideas on how to get the attn of someone at Dish?

Wish I had an answer because it's p**ing me of also. It does it mainly on ESPN (I record locals with my own HTPC so no issue there) and with the 10:00AM and 1:30PM games. It doesn't do it with the evening games for some reason. Also, I haven't noticed the same problem with FSN or CSBC. I've complained to Dish about it also, but they either don't have a clue or don't care. My solution is going to be simple. Next college football season I will no longer be a Dish customer. Dish just doesn't seem to care much about sports, especially college football and I'm fed up with this problem and the hassles with their FSN feeds.

What I suggest for now is instead of extending the time, record the next show where possible. The ones that there is no fix for at all is the games that start :15 min after the hour and the extension won't work and there is no other program to record.

I've even called Dish at their executive resolution office in Denver with no luck. It seems if it involves college football it's not their problem but the stations even if you point out that neither cable or D* has the same problem (including blackouts that make no sense).

I have had similar problems with sporting events so what I do when I need to record it is, setup so it extends 1hr longer and then also setup and record the show/event after the one you want recorded and extend that as well...

This has happened on a few night races that I had to record because I wasn't able to stay up till midnight due to having be up early the next day and races always go beyond whats normal because of cautions etc...

Also I had to setup Undercover Boss for 1 hr extra because the day NFL game a lot of times gets extended which leads to following shows not starting on time...

Very frustrating so work around the event/show until you know Dish has fixed it...

anybody have thoughts on why some recordings seem to work properly and others don't? it would be nice to be able to anticipate what games could cause a problem. it would be one thing if another scheduled event started recording each time, but on several occasions the recording has stopped even when there are no conflicts.

Hello razor44 my name is Mike Houston of DISH Network customer service; I am very sorry about the issue with your recording. It seems like you got good responses from Hokoo, lisilvest and nitprovn. And I do see there was a reference to "software" so I would like to give the software as of 12/23/10 and the software for a VIP722 is L6.72 or L6.71. I hope this
Information is helpful and if there is anything else I can help with please message me or re-post to this.
