The Logitech Harmony 880. I think it's now the "890" but basically the same thing. It is programmed through your computer, no codes. Check it out at http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/remotes/universal_remotes/&cl=us,en&page=1&filter=491&sort=0.

I see the price is a little steep on their website but you can probably get it cheaper at Sam's Club, BJ's, Wallmart or even Best Buy.

I have the Harmony One and it's fantastic. It's great for Directv and has the ability to control DVD, Receiver, and the TV. It's very easy to set up and Logitech has good customer service.

I use Harmony. Harmony 880/890 are basically the same remote. The 890 offers an RF scenario where you can put the equipment in a closet and put little inferred transmitter in front of the equipment and control the equipment via RF instead of direct line-of-sight inferred control. I have not used the newer Harmony One, but understand it is a very nice unit from chat in the blogs.

Good luck, if you have specific questions on a Harmony 880/890, pm me and I will be happy to answer them.

Harmony for me as well. I have 3 of them in different rooms. All work great and for a multiple unit setup, the activity aspect is great - 1 button turns everything on.

I too have the 880 and use Directv. The issue is no "List" button which shows your DVR'd programs. I am looking for a replacement as my 880 buttons are getting hard to push just to get a function to work. I already opened it up to clean it and it got a little better.

Any suggestions since it's now 2013?

Logitech Harmony One. It also has a Menu button which shows your recorded program list.

You must have sent a mind message as I just (2 minutes ago) programmed my 880 Menu botton to be the "list" button and it works like a charm. Then I just received your post.

Thumbs up Logitech Harmony Elite

Hi, I write reviews about remotes for universalremotereviews dot com.

The best remote you can buy for DirectTV or any cable service is the Harmony Elite. It's expensive but it is the best and it will control your smart home devices too.

If you want a budget option, check out the Harmony Companion. It's basically the Elite without the touchscreen and a few other minor differences
. Cheers!

Any Harmony remote to fit your requirement, at Best Buy, for example.
