If you have alot of equipment and call for a service call more than once a year, it might be worth it.

what is a "service call" exactly? perhaps a bad receiver, misaligned dish? what else could happen?

a service call is issued when you have any issue that cannot be resolved by a CSR over the phone requiring a truck roll to your house

It's not the biggest house in the world and it's not on a very big lot but I like it. There's no issue of the dish falling off soon. Thanks for the insult.

I'm a single guy with a moderate income. I don't think I'm doing so bad. Most single people claim they can't even afford a home.

You sir, are lame. You can't be so naive to think all house cost are the same. I don't know where you live but by your snide remark I assume COL is fairly high. If I had to replace our house it would be less then 150k and we have a 1700 sq/f 3bd 3bath with attached garage.

Just because his house is valued at 150k it's crap?

And to stay on topic, If you're really worried about the $6 charge then take it off. I really don't think it will be that necessary and as others have said you can get equipment replaced cheap enough anyway.

i wish i could get a service plane from my Sirius radios instead of paying $150.00 for a new unit or $30-$50 for a new antenna if 1 breaks lol knock on wood lol

but to stay on topic i rather pay $6.00 a month then 20 for a new receiver or 80 for a house call any day

FYI -
My house is a 2 story, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom with a 2 car detached garage. I tossed out the $150K number. It hasn't been appraised since I moved in 12 years ago.

Was this post REALLY necessary?

As was said already, house prices vary a great deal around the country so $150,000 for a house is a very nice house in many parts of the country, and a $300,000 can be a dump elsewhere.

Even if house prices didn't vary, this post was totally uncalled for and i do not what to see this type of post again. Insulting members IS against the rules and is not condoned.

Off Topic. Don't assume. And I can tell you that as a builder, houses being built for less than @80 to $100 sq/ft., are not being built with the highest of quality. Besides replacement cost has nothing to do with what it cost you to buy the house. If a house was bought 10 years ago for a certain price and the replacement cost is still the same, then if something happens someone is getting a bad end of the deal.

You're a builder and an insurance expert.

Replacement cost is based on what it would cost to replace the home at the current materials cost and labor cost not what you paid for the house 10 years ago.

Yes, and all wiring, remotes, dish alignments, etc.
