I only have those two options. Currently I am set up with Comcast but as I expand my home buisness I am adding the third box and want to know what would be better. I feel like Comcast is gauging me. From a price perspective does one or the other make it less costly to have additional HD Boxes? Comcast already makes me pay digital to the 2nd HD Box in addition to just having the box (additional 16 bucks on top of another 8 bucks for the HD converter called digital services??). This doesn't make much sense to me but I guess they can do what they want. How does this work with Direct TV??

You should call DTV. As a newbie you will get free installation and deals on the equipment plus whatever movie channel deal they're offering at the moment for 3 months free. Basically, HD service is $10.00 month and each receiver is $5.00 month. DVR-enabled receivers also cost extra up front. Or, check their web site.

DIRECTV also has an HD plus service which is $5 more per month on top of the $10 HD programming package. They also charge a monthly DVR fee just for having DVR service.
