I chose HORRIBLE.
I am not gonna write it again, very long read, but you can search my posts if you like, it was mid March when I posted about what I call my nightmare installation.

In short it took 4 guys around 7 days to get me going & a 5th installer a few days later to get my sattelite strengths where they needed to be. BUT I will say that since I finally got straightened out, the service has been excellent!

I said good. I guess I have been fortunate on every upgrade installation thus far. I even got all my equipment for free, so I will not complain yet.

Horrible. I set up the slimline dish, mounted it and for 15 minutes I tried to adjust it to get a signal. Frustrated I looked at the elevation and I had it set at 41 instead of 42. In five minutes I was pulling 90's on all. Tightened it down and had a beer. That part was good.

My install went pretty well (I selected good). The installer was lucky, since there was another new dish right next to mine that made the aiming easy. The part that took the longest was trying to get the DVR going. He kept having problems with the picture through the HDMI and the reception was incredibly jerky. It took him a while to figure out that one little tiny piece of the cable shielding (braided wire) was touching the center wire on the dish end. Once he cut the end and re-crimped it, all was well. It just took so long for him to get his testing equipment out - he kept thinking it was the DVR.

I voted for "Excellent". I'm on my third install/upgrade since I became a customer five years ago (went from dual LNB to triple to the 5LNB.) They've always arrived on time and been in and out in little or no time. This most recent upgrade to the 5 LNB in July, the guys talked me through every feature of the new DVR. Every customer service call I've made has been excellent as well. Virtually every time I've called with a question on my bill they end up giving some kind of free programming for a couple of months. Sometimes I just call to ask if there's any promotions out there and they just give me something for the effort.

Good here. No major issues other then the installer losing his paper work for my job and having to call Direct a few extra times. All in all a good experince.

All of my installs over the years (since '99) have been good. But there is always tomorrow (the 15th). I had the new HD channels for two days before my house was finished and I moved. I am leaving a perfect install at my apartment and I'm praying for the same tomorrow at my new home.

First trip they mounted the antenna to low, people walking on my sidewalk could (and did) hit their heads on it. But it worked.

Second trip I showed the guy exactly where I wanted it and he ignored me and put it to high, the top of the dish is under the eave of the house an inch or two. But it works.

After both installations the transponders from 103b were about 10% lower than the ones from the other three satellites. I guess those numbers are percent? The other three are in the 80s and 90s; 103b is in the 70s and 80s. The second guy, before he started, said all the numbers should be in the 80s and 90s. When he finished and I pointed out the 103b seemed about 10 low he said "well that one doesn't matter". I may have problems when it rains or snows this winter?

I am not favorably impressed. These guys are not professional and some of them border on incompetent. But I think DTV gets what they are paying for, unfortunately so do we.

I got a Sunday install and they came right on time at the start of the appointment window. Two installers. One skinny and one healthy. Healthy was obviously in charge so I told him my wife didn't want it street side for everyone to see (and near the house utility box) but on the back of the house. Healthy was none too pleased, grumbled a bit, but I found him 30 mins into the job sitting by the back of the house on a box, putting together the dish. He told skinny to get ready to go into the attic. It was 95 degrees that day but skinny but on a long sleeve turtle neck to keep insulation off his skin. Skinny yelled from the attic that he couldn't breath and it was hot, etc, etc, but an hour later he came down and the coax was run. Healthy told skinny to sit out the rest of the install, (skinny looked in bad shape) and finished up the three box job. The HD DVR was dead so healthy told me he would be back that evening with a new box and they left after four hours of install. At 10:30 that night they were back with a new DVR and it was all good. They really worked hard so I hope Direct pays them well. I think they were subcontractors because they were driving a 1990 Astro Van that had no Direct logo.
