Default $50 discount for HD Referral

I knew DTV gave each person $50 off their bill if they were referred by a friend to sign up for DTV.
But the other nite I was on the phone with my brother in Florida & he told me he had DTV for a year & that he had bought a plasma TV. So I explained to him how thw DTV HD DVR worked & about the HD programming DTV offers, ect., and when he called & ordered the upgrade to the HD package with an HD DVR he told the lady I had explained it to him & convinced him to upgrade & she said if I called DTV they would do something for me. I called tonite & the guy said yes (to my suprise ) that DTV does do something for customers referring other customers to upgrade to the HD & HD DVR package. He gave me a # to call on monday & said i would get $10 a month off my bill for 5 months. I had no idea they done this, but I thought it was nice!

Well, I think they gave you the wrong info. Customer referral only works when a new customer never had D* before and was referred by a friend or family who have D* service. That number they gave you are going to tell you to call customer service and then we will advise you that you are not qualify. Maybe the csr that you were speaking to did not understand what you were saying. That is strange, if it was true then it would have been taken care of at that time instead of telling you to call back on Monday.

Default i was mislead...again

your right dman, it only applies to new customer referrals. This means we was told 2 lies in 2 days by DTV reps, the first rep and the situation was explained COMPLETELY to the second person. I'm used to it. Nothing personal toward you dman, but i have had DTV since march & have been lied to more by DTV rep's than all the lies i've heard when i use to tend bar at a neighborhood corner bar years ago. I hate being lied to worse than anything. But I am sorry guys that I made this post before i followed it all the way thru...what i get for trusting a csr

Sometimes if something doesn't sound right, just ask for a supervisor and see if its true. I got a supervisor call like this before and explain to them how the referral works. What I end up doing is giving both of them $10 off for 6 months after I seen on there account that csr did mention to them that they can get it. Its possible that you were speaking with new csr's that just got out of training and did not fully understand what you or your friend was asking at that time.

Angry Problems with Referral

I don't know what Directv is doing now but last year I got a friend to switch from Dish to Directv (at that time they had a $100 offer). When the friend called Directv to arrange the service, he found out that the best deal for him did not include the $100 discount for me. It would have cost him more than $100 to get the discount for me, so he took the best deal for him (which I agreed was the smart thing to do).

I like Directv service but I will never ever round up a customer for them ever again.
