Did you make somebody mad. I just did the same upgrade and it was done for free. The dish and installation should be free. They may charge in unusual circumstances but a standard installation should be free.

Well at least you were warned ahead of time, so you can grease up first before they stick it to you.

I got one free, but when I first checked I was told it would cost me. I decided to wait and ended up getting it free when I had trouble with my system and have the insurance. So yeah mine was free but only because of that. 50 bucks isn't bad for a dish really. But if you can get a better deal go for it.

I am a long time customer who has never done any kind of upgrade. When I called about getting HD, they said I can have a free upgrade every six months. So for me, the new AU9, and the H20 were free. In another 6 months I will add another H20 and buy a small HD for the kitchen.

What I've heard is that D* is providing free dish upgrades for everyone who has a H2-/HR20 but doesn't have a Ka/Ku dish yet.

Dish upgrade is free. They should not be charging you for it. There isnt even a fee when they go to order it.

I just upgraded to slimline dish last month at no charge. Like previous post said I'm allowed an upgrade every six months. I usually go to the D* website, sign-in and click on upgrade equipment. When I ordered the dish last month I had a choice between dish upgrade, H20 or standard DVR for not charge. After I order the free upgrades go away for 6 months.
