This is such a venom thread. How many of these are there going to be? If you hate D* so much get cable. There is no way they are worse than cable. For every one customer spewing venom there are 500 who are perfectly content. Those threads would just be so boring though. OK back to spitting nails all of you.

I love D*
Unlike most of you all, I have never had a problem with D* customer service.

Once with a installation the installer put the TIVO box in the wrong room. (problem because he also installed the second feed in the wrong room)

Called D*, @ first they tried to charge me. Argued for a few minutes and D* came back out and reinstalled the 2nd feed in the correct room for free.

When I upgraded to HD my 1st appt was canceled without my knowledge. When I called to confirm the appt, that's when I found out it was canceled. I was a little perturbed at the time, called D* and the lady politely rescheduled the appt for the next day.

On the other hand my experience with Comcast CSR was horrible.

People have to realize that D* can't control the quality of all their sub-contractors.

A few bad apples give the whole group a bad name.

Default DISH is simply rude

OK, I'm a newbie at this whole satellite thing - don't even have one yet but I'm having a garage built and want to mount the dish itself on the back peak and I was shopping around between DISH and DIRECT. I found a website that allowed me to query both. Dish repsonded promptly (THAT day!) and I told them what I was doing. Cool. Done. They called me back within a couple days pestering me to sign up and buy in. "We have some new options we want to tell you about" was left on my answering maching. I called them to see and before a conversation could begin they wanted my name (I gave it) and my phone number. I didn't give it to them. I explained that they already had it - I was responding to THEIR call! She hung up on me. That does it for DISH. Is DIRECTV any better? Anyone?

I like DTV over Dish. Their Customer Service is what has kept me with them period. I like so many have had horrible experience with the installers but their Customer Service has always made it right. I actually feal like a somewhat valued customer with DTV. Of course they are not always perfect but who actually is?

And they have never been rude to me ever. I also never receive annoying sales calls from them.

I have never had a problem with D* and have been a customer for 5 years. I had both Comcast and D* until recently in order to maximize my HD viewing. D* is going to have much more hd and sooner. The cost is similar and, in my personal experience, better equipment. Like was said before, don't like them, get cable. I for one never expect to use cable again.

Gee thats funny because was'nt it the Yankees who blew a 3-0 series lead in '04. Granted the Redsox have had their share of chokes, but never what the Yanks did in '04. LOL

Sorry to get of topic.
Anyways I've never had any thing but good customer sevice with D*. Their always helpful and whatnot. And I know if they ever do screw me I can talk to cutomer retention and get free stuff!!

i don't mean to minimize the problems, but i've seen bigger issues.

-tech's don't have to call unless they need directions.
-make sure to provide 2 numbers if you can.
-make sure to verify address information. the local HSP can be contacted if the appointment block is almost an hour over, you can call for an ETA.

-if you take off work.. sorry, but that's on you. Don't do that!
The local providers are local contracting companies, they are DTV authorized, but they are not DirecTV(they ALL have DTV vans, it's just paint). They just hire locally. I know of companies worse than this that i shall not mention. We are aware of this, and they make us look bad. i don't like it any more than you. Take advantage of the ProtectionPlan, service calls cost money.

As for cable... say hello to snowy screens, stripes and ghosting. Cable is satellite anyway... they just siphon it to you through a cable.

Default My installer was awesome...

But the Direct CS staff leave much to be desired. So do their phone tech support. If I had tried to install the equipment myself, I'd have died before I got a good picture. After everything was hooked up correctly, it still took my installer over an hour to get everything set up right.
The installation was perfect, the pictures are wonderful. But this is our first time with DirectTV.
The people who handle orders by phone have little or no technical understanding of Sat equipment requirements or installation. So it's basically a crap shoot when you call. But then, that is not so rare these days.
My son worked for a call center one time. What a zoo that is. Sigh.

Content for now in Waco,

Default Yikes!!

So, I received a call from a gentleman today who was having an issue with one of his HD local channels in the Sacramento area...He just knew that we had to know about it and were hiding something as he comes to these forums and it was all the hub-bub..So, here I am checking out these forums for the first time..Some things hurt my feelings as I love Directv and have worked for them since the old Primestar days..Are there policies I don't agree with, of course, but aren't there at any job that you work at?? The great thing about DTV is although policies are set in place, we as reps have the ability to "think outside the box" and do our best to help our customers..As in any job different people have different personalities and of course that will come across in phone conversations so does DTV need to give out personality tests to everyone they hire?? Imagine yourself doing the job?? A person such as yourself calls to complain, cusses at the customer service rep that had nothing to do with the original issue in the first place and just can't seem to do anything to appease you..It's a very difficult job and we don't make millions but we do try our best..JD Powers gives DTV awards every year and cable can't even compare..Upon reading these 5 pages tonight, I think to myself..Wow there are a few angry people and in the scheme of things, 5 pages of complaints for a company with over 16 million subscribers?? I go with the old adage...You just can't please EVERYONE!!
