Default Is D* dropping TiVo already?

I just called them to hash out whether to buy or lease an HR10-250 and was told that the program guide would be thier own, that TiVo was not available on any HD DVRs. Was the rep. correct? If I buy a 10-250 outside of D* is TiVo still an option? Thanks to anyone who can shed some light this way...

The HR10-250 uses Tivo based software. I believe D* will continue to support Tivo software due to the numerous amount of subs that already have both HD and SD DVR's using Tivo. The HR20-250 and the SD DVR's on the other hand will not be using Tivo.

I wouldn't think they could cut off the use of Tivo until they replace all the Tivo based units with non-Tivo units. The only HD DVR they offer right now is Tivo based.

A lot of TIVO based D* DVR users do not want to go to the new D* technology, therefore will keep what they have until it no longer works.
D* can't force you to change.
They will have a swap out of some sort when the new HR2-250 comes out.

The reason D* is doing away with TIVO and doing there own version is MONEY, Not from the equipment lease or dvr fee's but the real $ the information that is gathered from YOUR DVR and the sold to the Networks and advertisers, TIVO has been gathering and selling this info about YOU since day one. D* Is banking on your eyeballs and Keeping the revenue for it shareholders.

Enjoy your DVR watching you.
