Default Possible to transfer taped shows from a DTV Genie receiver?

Dear Group - After many years - and lots and lots of money - we'd like to drop DirecTV and switch to a streaming service.

But the wife has taped some programming onto the DVR that she'd like to keep for future viewing on some other device. Is there any way to do that (that wouldn't be very complicated or costly)?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks.

If the Genie receiver has component outputs then it might.

If trying to record from the HDMI output you might run into HDCP problems, and could be too costly, but there are component (RGB) to PC recorders available, this way you could save them to a 2 TB hard drive on your PC or MAC or burn them to DVD or BluRay.

I use a HDMI to component adapter like this one here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The component outputs from the adapter is connected to a Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR High Definition Personal Video Recorder which connect to a PC via a USB port.

The resulting recordings are very good and the 1212 will be useful for other recordings later.
