Default Non SWM question?? Zinwell

My current configuration has a slimline antenna with 4 down leads feeding a Zinwell switch that has 8 outputs that are all currently being used.. Problem: I need 1 more output for an additional receiver.. Is this possible or do I need to put up another antenna? Last time DTV came on a service call, they wanted to convert my entire house to SWM and I was hesitant to do so..

Try looking into EMP switches.

What he really needs is a cascadable switch, Dish uses a DPP44 switch that can be cascaded up to 3 times, this would give you 12 receivers.

I don't know if DTV has older switches (non SWM) that would be cascadable.

Question to DTV people or installers:
As this is an older system, could you not use some 2 way splitter's at the LNB's and use a second switch??

Could this work for him?

You can Add another Zinwell -By Splitting the 4 Down leads -with Correct splitters (NOT) the ones used by the cable company- and then put one leg of the first splitter - to port 1 of Zinwell and then the second leg of the first splitter to port 1 of the second one and so on.

It would be a lot easier for you to go to SWIM and lose the four down leads -only needing one and NO Zinwell Stuff and your HDDVR's would only require one line.

Get rid of the zinwell is my suggestion
