Default EXIT Changed Resolution From HD to SD

For some reason my finger stayed too long on the EXIT button on the remote and I got a message saying the image would be changing from HD to SD. Then my screen went black for a few seconds followed by the show resuming in SD. And there was another message telling me that if I wanted to go back to HD I could hold down the EXIT button again.

So I did, and I received a message telling me that the image would be changing from SD to HD. After a few seconds of a black screen I had my show back in HD with a message telling me about using EXIT to change resolutions.

I've been a DirecTV user since the mid-90s and I've never stumbled upon this trick before. But I won't be using it again because I can't think of why I'd want to watch HD programming in SD.

And you might get stuck in SD!!! I'm not going to give it a try unless a 100 people chime in saying this works.
