Default Start from beginning program skips during playback

Often times when choosing a program that has the option to play from the beginning, the playback jumps to a point way ahead in the program. It might play for 15 minutes and then skip to the last half hour of a 2-hour program. I called DTV and they had me reset the remote and DVR to default settings. It helped that evening, but now it's doing the same thing regularly. Any help?

Has anyone had this happen to them? It happened again to me last night. The program was about an hour in when I tapped the back button it played fine for about a half hour and then it jumped to real time. I could either back it up all the way to the beginning (I sure didn't want to do that) or to the point it was when I originally tuned to that station (about an hour in) leaving a half hour missed. I paused it a number of times and maybe that plays into it?

When you wind back your using an internet option- ( the show is being streamed from the internet not the sat signal) You might try resetting your router or upgrading it to a newer model. Try resetting it first and see if anything changes

I've rebooted the router numerous times to no avail. My router is a Net-gear AC so I don't think it's that. My internet connection is 50 mps. It's kind of weird how it happens. It's always the most inopportune time. DirecTV just has you reboot everything. I don't think they know what's wrong.

I upgraded my roadrunner cable service to the Spectrum Internet 100mbps download and 10mbps upload. It makes no difference. It seems like the later in the program you select the back arrow to play from the beginning the better chance of it skipping to current time. If you're only 10 to 20 minutes into the play time it will probably play the entire program, but if you're an hour or more into it, chances are it won't play without skipping ahead to real time. I have an HR24-500 Genie receiver.

Okay - Nice upgrade - Now your still faced with Same internet problem everyone has - (location from you) & the Channel Server.

Depending on where the server is located from your isp It's speed will be componded by the fact of the # of Network Hops it makes to get to you. It Hop Slows it down from local network congestion. causing issue's on your end no matter how fast you home isp is.

As you Know Direct TV does not have a server farm for the channels content. The only servers they support are for PPV Offers.

There is NO fix for our problem (streaming) D* Channels from your receiver it except you will notice that it works better on some channels rather than others (see) above reason.

The other issue is the HR24 is almost 10 years old -Being in the field and it's hardware & chips are dated (however) the Lan Port can only handle 15-18mps and even the Hr54 has the same lan port limit.

So it's not really a ISP "speed" issue but a Network Congestion issue from where the content of the channel is located in relation to your location.

What I do rather than start over is do a search for other showings and if one shows up - I hit record either VOD or latter showing date.

If none show then I try to Stream it - if that fails I try to find it on the web (Amazon) if possible or I just say Damn It and miss it.
