Default Video Freeze and Audio Cut Out Issues

I recently upgraded to DTV 4k Genie and their 4k service. I'm still evaluating whether I'll continue with the DTV 4k package or not.

Here are some of the symptoms I am experiencing:
1.) I had recorded Garth Brooks on 4K channel 106 and was watching it later. There were so many video freezes and audio cutting out, I just about turned it off.
2.) I recorded a HD local broadcast show this week. Two 30 minute episodes back to back. Both episodes had severe audio cutting out and video freeze ups.

In both cases, I stopped and re-started both recorded programs hoping things would improve. But no improvement.

Anyone have any suggestions before I contact DTV tech support?

Jim

Have you tried a different HDMI cable?

I'm getting the same thing on my locals. Called Direct and was told they aren't responsible for local channel problems. I replied that Direct charges me for them so, in my opinion, that makes them responsible or the channels should be free.

Are you using a C61K to connect to your TV? If you are, and the TV is one of the DirecTV RVU-compatible 4K TVs, try connecting the coax directly to the TV instead of via the C61K.
There have been many reports of this type of issue with the C61K.

I'll try the coax hook up and see what happens myself as I have dealt with this problem for over a year now as I am on my third 4K box from D* as my TV is D* RVU-COMPATIBLE.
I do not have freezes in my picture but I have consistent audio drops every 5 to 10 minutes no matter what channel local or otherwise and the DirecTV guy that brought me the last box said this is a well-known problem with Direct TV and that they do not have a fix for it yet, this was about 2 months ago.
So I have just been riding it out looking and searching for news about it on the internet hoping it will be dealt with soon but if not I'm going back to the regular HD Genie box because the only programming I have really enjoyed in DirecTV's 4k offerings is the Notre Dame football games and a couple nature shows but otherwise that's it for me.
