Default Thinking of cancelling DTV for another 2 year break..

Just received my new DTV bill ($175).

Includes HBO ($18)
Service $8
Some Sports package $5

Above figures are round numbers

Downgraded to Select only to find some of the channels I watch like the Golf channel are not included in Select.

Reupped back to Ultimate, but a bit torqued at the price. Was paying around $75 when I was in my "sweetheart" deal (first 2 years).

Seriously thinking of doing a 2 year hop to Dish. $175 is almost $6 a day. I'm guessing we might watch DTV 2 times a week during the winter months when there aren't many sports channels I care about.

Now if DTV would FINALLY get the Pac-12 network, I would be a happy camper. I'm guessing some the huge DTV price is due to all the cable cutters that have left me and others holding the bag.

I assume you're asking about channel "ONE". It's on DTV channel 328 and seem to be using the name of "TV1HD". At this moment, it's running episode after episode of "Good Times".

While the channel is HD, it seems to be showing episodes of "Good Times" in SD. During commercial breaks, the video is HD. "Good Times" ran from 1974-1980, well before HD programming started.

Another commenter rapped about SD shows being shown in letterbox. For the uninformed, ALL SD is 4 X 3 format and WILL be letterboxed unless the picture is zoomed in (which to me is worse than letterbox).

As for me, I have WAY too many sources for video where not too long ago, it was just DTV. Now...

DTV
Amazon Prime
Netflix
Apple TV
Sling (fall only to view Pac12 since DTV refuses to make a deal)

All of these sources provide some video that I find worthwhile.

I can well understand if a person had no interest in LIVE sports, DTV would be a prime candidate to cancel. Also, I would be losing access to local NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS and FOX.

So I guess I won't be cutting any cable until the Lord cuts mine.

Note, a subscription to DTV without HBO or other addons cost less per day that a Starbucks coffee and for those few left 1 pack a day smokers, less than a half pack. Then there's drinking...

One final thought. Not sure if I'll ever go back to channel 328 (TV One) after just checking it out, but it did have one of my old favorite shows "Sandford and Sons" that I might like to see again if I can find time with all my other video options. I saw Red Fox doing "standup" about a million years ago (1978?).
Yo Dude, I wasn’t bitching about anything when I started the thread, I was simply asking the informed posters a question. I just got pissed off royally as I revisited this thread this afternoon.
