Default Help...Need New DVRs...

OK...what I've got right now is, 3 HR20-700s. Yeah, they're old, but up till now, they've been working, with only a few problems. I've got 2TB hard drives connected to 2 of them, as we do a lot of recording. Well, recently, our main machine has been going unresponsive or extremely slowly responding...I mean 5 or 10 minutes per command. When I unplug, it seems to resolve for an unpredictable number of hours.
Anyhow, I've been paying the "insurance" on these for years, so I thought I should take advantage of that, however it's been so long, I have no idea what units are good or bad. Also, I want to be able to add on my hard drives for more space, if possible. What is your recommendation. I do have 3 HD sets on those DVRs and my system is running off of SWMs, to work with our prewired-for-cable house. Thanks for the help!

First- Changing your DVR's Will Result in the fact that all recording saved will be lost (however) you can connect your external Existing Drives to a HR24 or any Genie -When connected it will reformat the drive and you can start over using it.

I would Suggest Changing one of your HR20 out for a Genie Hr44 and uograde your other 2 Hr20's to HR24's

First On your Existing Hr20's I suggest you go to the menu - Search - type CLEARMYBOX -then search all on that - your receiver will reboot and see if that changes anything - DO it on each one that is giving you the problems.

DO NOT Replace any of your DVR's with a MINI - the mini has no tuner and if you lose the Genie any Mini will not work.

WestDC - thanks for the suggestion to improve receiver response to remote control commands.
I have HR21/200 with same issue outlined by the original poster - very long lag time for receiver to respond to remote commands. It has been very frustrating for a long time. Normal rebooting would show little or no improvement. I had been dragging my feet on calling Directv for maybe a new receiver for two reasons: also have external drive with many hours of programs recorded, and didn't like having a 2 year commitment, even though I have been with DT 10+ years.

Tried your suggestion and a noticeable improvement in receiver response to remote. Excellent tip.
