Default NO Locals with the DTV app?

I don't understand why my locals are not available with DTV's app (iPhone and iPad). Excluding the PPV movies, most of the lower 200 channels are CRAP. However, I would like to be able to view my local ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and PBS channels out of the house while traveling in the US. Yes, I realize some of these are available from the websites.

This is my 2nd day on DTV after "missing in action" the last 3 years (only because of my personal STRIKE against DTV for not offering the Pac-12 Net). Guess I'll spend some time at my local sports bar when the Washington Huskies are in action.

Re the missing locals on my devices, I'm wondering if there's some hookup with Sling that will work. Dish with their Sling Hopper provided the locals. Why not DTV?

Some areas have locals, some don't, depends on the agreements DirecTV has in place. here in DFW I get NBC and Fox.

After about a month on DTV, I'm more than disappointed in their app for content on the go. My previous provider (Dish's dish anywhere) is MILES ahead of DTV in this area. Lots of spooling or just can't connect with DTV. PITA. Is Sling the reason Dish works so much better with remote access?

I can see myself going back to Dish in a couple of years if DTV doesn't improve in this area.

I use a slingbox myself. A older M1 slingbox can be bought for about $50-$75 on ebay which will handle component video in HD. If you need to use the HDMI output on your receiver there are HDMI to component converters available for $70 like this one: http://www.gang-hu.com/gh_shop/index.aspx

The gang-hu converter has a HDMI input and a HDMI output to allow pass through to a TV plus component + stereo audio to attach to the slingbox.

This will allow viewing anything on your DVR on phones, tablets and computers in HD plus many other media player boxes support slingbox.

I don't know if anyone has noticed but if you are in a different TV market and you open the app you will get the locals for that market.

We only have Fox 2 WJBK available in the DirecTV app. All of our locals are O&O. So I would think that other O&O Fox stations would also be available in their respected areas.

This is really confusing but I will try to spell it out. There are two types of locals, one for the stations which DirecTV has a streaming agreement and those which do not. You can get them all but you must have Mobile DVR enabled.
(All my notes refer to the android version)
When you open the app, select the Watch on Phone button, then watch Live TV.
You will see under the Live Tv Streaming haeading just those stations with which DirecTV has a streaming agreement. But then if you select View All, you will see all your stations appear. Now select one of the channels which did not appear under Live Streaming. The select Watch. You'll see under the Watch On Phone heading the line Mobile DVR On Now. Select the Watch on Phone button. Ther's your channel.
Now go back to the Channel Guide and select one of the stations that DID appear in the streaming list. Then select Watch. You will see the Watch on Phone appear but with no mention of Mobile DVR. That measn when you select Watch on Phone the program is streaming from the DirecTv servers, NOT from mobile DVR.
You may notice there is a picture quality issue when you watch a Mobile DVR channel, we're not sure if that will improve.

Note: If you do NOT have Mobile DVR (which requires an HR44/54) you won't see the non-streamed locals at all.

This didn't work for me. The My channels and All channels indicated the same channels, no variation. And neither had locals.
