Long time DTV user converting to the Genie and pondering on canceling DSL as its so slow and going with home LTE attached to our 15 gig wireless plan.
Has anyone been able to monitor data usage on the Genie? Its obvious on demand uses data, and I assume the genie uses data with the 72 hour rewind feature? Does anyone know the Per hour data use for Genie @ 1080P? We use our hotspot while camping and watch apple TV without any overages, normally it uses 2 gig per hour- just wondering if the DTV Genie is more data hungry? I also work for AT&T and am being the guinea pig for possibly unbundling cable customers as DTV is going to be huge for us ![]() |

A 2hr 1080p uses about 15 mbs A 1080i uses about 10 mbs - I've used 23 GB's so far for august Downloaded a couple of movies - a couple of Pc's other stuff.
Your cap limit is a ondemand killer rewinding depends on how often and how far back (intime) amount of data increases on that. My advice is to use it Sparing as you can as other devices will eat at your cap as well. Enjoy the Genie - just get the movie channels and record stuff from the GUIDE only - you will save money and internet overages over time. |
