Default finally 1080p

well after 3 years i finally get 1080p. when i first bought my samsung led hdtv, which is 1080p, i couldnt get anything on tv in 1080p only could pick the option on the direct settings menu of 1080i. called direct and went though some settings, and then called samsung. tv is a 1080p led tv. anyway i checked on some movies on direct pay and it shows some in 1080p, but you have to pay. so after talking to direct again it seems that most shows are broadcast in 1080i. just bought a yamaha RX-A1020 receiver that up-scales and after a week the message came on my tv = this program in 1080p resolution. went to direct tv settings and damn i could finally click on the 1080p box, before it said my tv didnt support it. i noticed when i first hooked my yamaha up that the picture ws a lot crisper and richer in color. anyway for what ever reason im getting 1080p.

I remember when I had bought my first TV and was excited that I got 1080. Then after awhile of having it... It was 1080i. Took a few years but finally got that TV replaced with a 1080p one.

my tv is a 1080p samsung led tv. its just that i could never click on the 1080p option in the setup menu. even direct says the only 1080p programs are going to be pay-per-view. type in something in the direct search, a movie, and youll see that some of them will actually say 1080p. didnt even know they mad a 1080i tv, must of been way back.

The only 1080I tv are ptojection/crt tv's. All flat panels- lcd/plasma/led-lcd/oled are all 'progressive' or 'p' tv's. 1080I is the incoming signal. Often avr will de-interlace a 1080I signalto 1080p but outside of certain ppv/vod titles and blu-ray hdtv signals are 1080i and 720p
