Directv Sues Dish Reseller
Loran1 you might as well give up. These knuckleheads probably go to other company sites and complain about them also. I HATE Comcast and won't go to their site and complain, so I think these detrackers really have a love-hate relationship with directv otherwise they wouldn't bother coming hear. I got screwed over once by directv but I still think they're the best. Hey people if you hate directv so much how come you're hear? You're not going to talk anyone to leave directv! Go to the NSA site and complain to them about how they are reading this as I'm typing this. (Oh I hear they subscribe to directv). BTW don't get your panties in a bind, you can always complain about AT&T nobody likes them. OH MY GOD! THAT FELT GOOD!!

udogu,
Iíve read the best way to deal with trolls is to ignore them. Then their trouble making efforts will be wasted and perhaps theyíll go away.

all i know is that ive had both, direct and dish, dish had HD channles that i watch long time before dirct had them, diy amc and others. yet direct kept bragging about how they had more hd channels, i guess they meant sports channels. and how sad it is they feel the need to constantly bad mouth the competition. it just makes them look bad. for that fact alone ill be switching back to dish. its like hanging out with some one that dose nothing but talk about how great they are and how messed up everyone else is. gets really old after a awhile. its to bad they feel the need to do this but they do.

Default DTV and Dish

I've had DTV for perhaps 15 years and for the most part, was satisfied with the service. Last year we moved to a new location and I could have continued with DTV, but decided to give Dish a try. The main reason was the brew haw that DTV has with NOT carrying the Pac 12 network. I don't think it's available as of this posting.

Never-the-less, I'm more than satisfied with Dish which does carry the Pac 12 network. About the only problem with switching is I STILL don't have a handle on the Dish channels verses the DTV channels. I'm always looking up channel numbers (especially the ones I don't watch very often.) And the Dish Hopper is great.

DTV kept either giving me the runaround about upgrading to the Genie or coming up with a charge of around $500 to upgrade. I doubt I'll ever come back to DTV unless they swallow up Dish in some future takeover.

direct is a joke and laughing stock of the satellite network, thats why they have to sell there company. to actually think that people are going to believe that they paid some of there customers to switch and how bad the competition was, come on. its sad to know that direct has to resort to these tactics. but thinking about it, all the non stop adds and bad mouthing they have done over the years explains it all. that is what a company does right when there about to go broke, advertise like crazy in hopes to get enough new customers to save themselves. just like in the construction industry, the last person you call is the one that advertises non stop, why, because if they have to advertise non stop then something is wrong, either they dont have any work or they have way to much money to burn. ive been with direct for a couple years now and im happy with them, but if they stopped there neg adds and gave those millions to there customers in savings, well that would solve there biggest problem, high monthly bills.

Default Hot Rod and Dude

Hot Rod : There = in an other place i.e. "It's over there".
Their = Possessive i.e. "Their company."

Dude: Direct is in business to make a profit. It is not the "DirectTV Foundation". This is also true of Dish, Comcast, Charter, TW, and all the rest.

Not sure what a RCA 430 box is, but the boxes that show up on eBay when searching for this box look like a piece of crap. From the looks of it, they can't give them away on eBay (less than $20 and NO ONE is bidding on them. Biggest negative I see is NO HDMI output.

I'm fairly certain almost all the video providers ONLY lease video boxes. According to my experience, Comcast, Dish and DTV only lease. The $5-$7 monthly are part of the cost of doing business with these providers and they do provide a path for future upgrades.

If you are stupid enough to buy a box on eBay, there's good chance it won't work when you try to hoop it up.

About the only way to reduce the cost of video is to sign up with another providers when your contract is up. Catch the new subscriber deals and then move on.

The short version is that there isn't any free lunch.

I offered the same comment to this guy in another thread, but his poor English skills continue to be annoying. Itís just further confirmation that what he says is uneducated nonsense.

Nothing is "perfect" Unfortunately you had issues that you did not allow them time to resolve. I started with them in the 90's, had 2 providers, USSB and Directv. It could be you are in a weak area for signals or something was blocking the signal.
I had issues with a local signal and it took weeks to fix, but they did it.
You cannot judge the whole system over one issue.
