Default HD TiVo question

I have another question regaurding the HD TiVo box to go along with my other post
http://www.highdefforum.com/showthread.php?t=14111

Can I just order this receiver and use my existing Dish, or do I need a different dish/transponder. And I assume this origanal RF cable that DirecTV ran is quality enough for this signal.

You'll need the triple LNB oval dish ONLY if you want DirecTV's HD package and/or Showtime/HBO in HD. You'll still be able to use your existing dish to get the SD programming you're getting now + your HD locals via antenna.

I lived with this for a while & it was fine until I wanted HBO in HD. At that time I just popped the new dish on the old mounting & used the existing wiring with perfect results.

Ok what about the other TV I have in the Rec. room, just a basic 19" (which will be the new owner of old TiVo box) Will I still be able to get a basic signal through it, and will I be able to have 2 HD lines for HD TiVo, and 2 lines for basic TiVo in Rec. room off of one satellite?

Yup, the oval dish has a built in multi-switch so that you can run four lines directly from the dish. Which should be enough to feed both DirecTivo's dual tuners.

What you may want to do is to add an oval HD dish and leave your SD round dish in place to feed the SD TiVo. There are four connections available on the HD oval dish that will feed 2 TiVos as Eddie said, but if you ever plan on adding any more receivers in the future, you will be out of connections with the single oval dish. You will be able to add a HD multiswitch at that time, but the HD multiswitches will cost more money. Leaving your SD round dish in place and adding the HD oval dish will give you 2 spare HD connections.

Now this may not matter to you, but it is an option that others may find useful.

I believe I'll get by from what I have learned from this and other forums. Next question I have; lets say I need a new dish can I purchase it and mount it myself(assuming I can use the same mounts). Then if I find a cheap place to purchase the HD TiVo receiver can I set this up on my own. Will I need a certified DirecTV installer to do some sort of admin. stuff for set up.......!

I like the idea of the 2 dishes for ever if I were to add on, but I think living room and rec. room are enough for this house.

If you can self install you don't need anyone to set up the new receivers. Be sure you get a good signal on all three satellites and tune in channel 100 and you are good to go. Just call them and answer their questions and they will set you up.
