Default Which DirecTV Receiver Should I Go With?

I have a DIRECTV 5-LNB Multi-Satellite Dish. When it was installed, two cables were run from the dish to the basement.

The Basement has a HD-DVR - HR20-700 connected to a 65 in DLP.

I am getting a 32 in 1080p Viso for the family room.
Currently, we have a 21 inch standard TV with a DirecTV Standard Receiver with one cable input from the wall.

Will the HR23 Plus HD DVR work as a replacement for the DirecTV Standard Receiver?

Can I record two shows and watch a third or does this require an additional input like the basement?

What would be an option if I can not use the HR23 Plus or want just the receiver?

Do yuo have to buy them frm DirecTV

thanks

Need to run 2 cables from the dish to the 2nd TV. You can lease your DVR or receiver anywhere but if you get it from Directv they will usually install it for free, including the cables.
