I was wondering the same thing. I'm interested in getting a direct view hdtv (mainly because of the low prices). Does anyone know when the 2006 televisions will be on the market? I saw the press release for the Toshiba televisions and also a new JVC 30 inch tv. Im hoping that there is either a new 30 or 34 inch tv that get good reviews, or the new tvs will push the prices even lower on current models. All the tvs I've researched lately have quality issues (toshiba, samsung) or are still a little bit out of my price range (sony).

Toshiba has sold out their CRT based sets to Orion of Thailand,
Orion is providing the CRTs and pcbs. JUNK Too bad that Toshiba sold out.
Allways look at the back of the set on display and see were it is made and Gooogle the model to see who made the guts!Don't trust the name on the unit, even SONY.Take it from someone that works on this stuff
for over thirty years.

You don't need to look at the back of the TV. All Toshiba CRT tube televisions, regardless of what size and price, are now made by Orion (Sansui). Toshiba no longer makes any CRT tube televisions. Another way to tell is that if the power button is located at the left side of the TV or it says Made in Thailand at the back, then it is made by Orion. On the other hand, all Sony CRT tube televisions are still made by Sony.

The new Toshiba 26HF66 and 30HF66 currently are in process for quality control inspection at the Orion World Electric (Thailand) Ltd. factory, and Orion will begin shipping them to North America Best Buy stores beginning in March with a suggested retail price of $599.99 and $799.99 respectively.

The 30HF85's are on sale now from Best Buy for only $700, so they must be expecting the 30HF66's in soon.

It's "problems", not "promblems".
