I have talked with them at hd-tube.com and it is a flash conversion using ON2 V6 and X264 at 2500 bit rate or lower depending on what the user chooses, about a quarter compression so to speak, give or take some. They tell me bandwidth at any higher resolution just eats up to much resources.

I think it is great cause it gives me and others a chance to have better videos than youtube's conversion plus you can even download the flash file and upload it to youtube or any other video sharing site and it will still play at the higher resolution because it has already been converted to flash.

This gives camera operators and independents like me a great median to show our wares, even if it is not true HD at this time. I know you can always download large files, but when you have limited resources it is nice to get just a better quality video than many of the major players are offering.

I found another great video site, it looks to be a stage6 replacement
as the name says they run DivX format. http://www.DivX-Tube.com

The video quality is outstanding HD for streaming. Full screen plays real well. The small screen is really cool as the background fades to black showing only the video as you watch.

I am going to keep on eye on this site an see where it goes
