Default 1080i Playback on HTPC+LCD

Hi, I have a HTPC connected to a samsung 32" LCD HDTV (resolution set to 1360x768).

I have been trying out different HD video formats to see what's what. I have had success with most formats including h.264 (using CoreCodec), WMVHD and some mpeg2 HD stuff. The problems I'm getting are with 1080i mpeg2 material. Some 1080i stuff plays fine, but other samples that I have tried are horribly jerky and blurred. From what I have read this seems to be a problem with the deinterlacing. If I pause the sample at a fast moving point, then step forward 1 frame at a time I get 3 good frames followed by 2 frames that are obviously made up of 2 seperate frames each. Another post I read suggested that this could be because the video decoder is using 3:2 pulldown when it doesn't need to be.

I have tried PowerDVD, WinDVD, Media Player Classic, VLC and others, all have poor results, and none seem to have options to turn 3:2 pulldown off.

If anybody has any ideas or suggestions I would be very grateful, if I can get these files working I'll be able to say I'm fully HD Ready!
