Hi guys,it's my firt post here. That is a nice place to get the problem solved with my TV and PC i hope.I'll start with my harware:PC
Lenovo Y530 running on Vista(NVIDIA M9300GT).TV Samsung Plasma PS42C62HX.

I was able to connect my pc tomy tv with no problems via HDMI-HDMI cable.Until yesterday. So after connecting both devices, the tv was kind of off on the corners.I missed half of my taskbar and icons.SO i decided to correct the resolution to fit the screen.Instead of doing it on the tv i did it on my grapics card.In the options I was able to set the corners to fit the tv.After I matched the screen and click on ok the problem has started. So now the resolution has been changed from 720p to a diffrent one and now the tv shows mode not supported. I need to setup the resoultion from the pc to be again 720p. I cannot do it after I connect my pc and tv becasue my screen on the pc automatically goes black.Tv again shows mode not supported. I've tried the option for switichng settings using FN-F3 but that hasn't helped. If I connect the devices via VGA I can see the TV appearing on my pc but I'm not allowed do change any settings on the tv.I tried various option with connecting the cables and tv in diffrent combination but hasn't helped. Before I was able to clone the screen and both devies would be on so I was able to see what I'm doing on the pc and tv at the same time. Can any1 please help me what should I do to switch the pc on while connected to the tv so that I can change the settings of the tv please or how to switch settings on the pc to deafult?.I trie all options but wasn't able to find it. The pc is on while on VGA but on HDMI the screen swithes off. Please let me know any ideas.Thans a lot

I would reinstall the nVIDIA drivers first to get everything back to factory. Hard to know what happened. Next try to get the overscan turned off in the TV. If your TV does not have the ability to turn overscan off, then you will have to attack it in the PC, but not by changing the resolution. There is a section in my nVIDIA software that deals with a TV. It is in the nVIDIA Control Panel under the Video & Television functions there is a selection named Resize HDTV Desktop. That selection allows the creation of a "black" frame around the desktop rather than changing the resolution. There is a choice to either resize the desktop (that's what you want) or to not resize the desktop.

The version of my nVIDIA Control Panel is 2.1.270.00 and it came with my HP Media Center PC.

Thanks a lot rbinck.I have recently updated the drivers to the most recent ones. But that's where I will start off from.I know which option you are talking about in the control panel of NVIDIA.In regards to the setup on the tv I don't such an option. It must be set to automatic.I can only change the size from 16:9,4:3 etc.Is it enough just to reinstall the drivers?Or should I go back to older ones and the install the most recent one?Hopefully the drivers will set back to default and that will solve the problem.I'll you know. Thanks again.

Hello all,

i have similar problem like rest of ppl...well at least they managed to connect pc to their tv's. I cant...so any advice from you will be nice

pc graph card is XFX HD5770 XXX 1GB DDR5 HDMI, 2xDVI, Display Port, DirectX 11

tv is Panasonic TX-P42X20E

connection im using is hdmi-hdmi

in catalyst (8.66 driver ver i think) i used these options...

display 1 (monitor) 1920x1080 @ 60hz , 32-bit colors, extended
display 2 (panasonic) 1280x720 @ 50hz , 32-bit colors, extended ... also under scaling options, overscan is at 0%

each time i do "swap" option to transfer pc picture on tv, it doesnt show up on tv (hdmi3) and i have blank screen...i tried with option on/off overscan 16:9 in tv menu but also i get black screen. I'm out of options & hdmi cable is brand new...am i doing something wrong or what?

Ty for your time & answers

Must be a European version. It says it is a 1024x720 resolution. I'm not sure what to tell you to do next.

Do you have Catalyst set for Clone or Extended? Also, do you have Theater Mode selected in AVIVO?

What you first described sounded like it might be Extended mode where it would only show anything to the right of your desktop.

Hi guys, first post and looking for help.

I have connected a GTX 260 to a 32-inch Sony Bravia with a DVI to HDMI cable (I also tried a converter from HDMI to DVI before buying a cable with DVI on one end and HDMI on the other). (GTX 260 only has DVI). Previously I was using a direct HDMI connection with my 9500GT and it worked perfectly at 1360 x 768. However this is not in the list of the available resolutions and all the ones that are available cause overscan (which can be fixed in NVIDIA CP) but the bigger problem, that everything looks shiny and ugly and text has very jagged edges.

I have tried the latest NVIDIA Windows 7 64-bit drivers to no avail.

Help, experts? Thank you!

Basically I want a resolution of 1360 x 768 which is the monitor's native.

Default TV undetected

My TV is a Philips 42PFL7404D, full HD (1920x1080), with plenty of HDMI inputs, and also a VGA. I'm installing a new PC, just for wathcing movies, with a Gigabyte motherboard featuring a embedded ATI 3200 video device, using the TV as a secondary monitor, via HDMI, with a regular LCD monitor as primary display. With the VGA connection and only the TV as a primary monitor, no problems, but no full HD. With the HDMI connnection , the boot information displays without problems in both monitors (TV as secondary), but when the graphic part of Windows boot displays, the TV shows a blank (Black) screen, with no information in the TV about "no input signal". Then, the displays information from Catalyst shows only the primary monitor, with no TV, even when forced detection.

Im using Windows 7 Ultimate, the Catalyst Control Center Version 2010.0803.2125.36577.

Any help?

Guilherme

In CCC, you need to have the HDTV set for clone mode if you just want the same thing as is on your PC monitor. Sounds like you may have it in extended mode which would only show whatever is to the right of your PC screen which would be black unless you deliberately put a program there. Also, check your AViVO settings and make sure it's set to Theater mode. Your resolution for the HDMI connection should also be set to 1080.

Well, here begins my problem. The CCC does not even DETECT the TV, so I can't apply any configurations for the TV, since the TV is not displayed as a CCC device, even if I "force detection".

Your displays manager only shows the PC monitor? In the box that says attached displays that are currently disabled are their any showing?

Is there a listing for HDMI properties?

If it's not picking up anything it may be a bad connection or a bad cable. Can't think of any settings in the TV that would cause the problem, but might not hurt to check your manual.

Default try YouTube

There's a bunch of videos on YouTube that demonstrate how to connect your PC to your TV and troubleshoot if it's not working.

Hi hi people (and martians if any), this is my first post here and I have a problem thats causing me lose it. Here goes with the story+specs.

I own a toshiba p505d-s8007. It has an ATI Radeon HD4200 graphics card in it. I have owned it a little over a year but never checked for a HDMI out because I didnt own a HDTV, needless to say I was sad when I looked and didn't see one but alas, there was a VGA so the day was not totally lost.
I got my taxes back a week ago and decided I wanted a HDTV so I went online and got a LG 47LD500.
When I hook the TV up to my PC and set the TV as the main display, the PC goes black and im pretty sure it's supposed to. Then every couple minutes, sometimes multiple times in rapid succession, the TV will lose VGA signal and my PC will light up and then the PC goes dark again and the TV starts receiving the VGA signal again and this loss of signal can last 2 or 3 seconds while it switches and its all the more annoying because when the signal returns to the TV I get the windows "DING" connection notification. When I close the lid on my PC it seems to reduce the amount of time it takes to do it's temporary switcheroo and it becomes a flicker but still annoying. How do I get it to go away all together???

P.S. Sorry, I tried to post links to my specs sheets for my TV/PC but it said I had to post at least 5 posts to be able to put links in my reply.
