vlc player audio over spdif connection crisis

How can anyone watch standard def?

Default vlc player audio over spdif connection crisis

when I play a dvd in vlc or a movie with dolby digital on it vlc player cannot play it back correctly any suggestions

Start Vlc
Settings --> Preferences --> (select advanced options) --> Audio --> Output modules --> Select 'Win32 Waveout extension output' from the drop down list labelled 'Audio Output Module' --> Save then close it and next time you run it it should be fine.

I'm having a similar issue.. if i play the same vob through powerdvd.. i get dolby digital output on my receiver.. but if i play the vob through vlc player.. i do not.. just stereo.

I've enabled this option mentioned in this thread..

Any other suggestions?
