Hello everyone I am new to the world of HD could someone please let me know what is the best software player which will play .ts files and will also output DTS & AC3 through SPDIF, I have tried VLC and don't think it's that good just looking for more options any advice would be appreciated.

well powerdvd is enough...

but if you own multimedia 5.1 digital set that has an internal hardware encoder then its audio performance would be better

I have tried powerDVD but for some reason it will not play .ts streams also another problem with power dvd is if you load a file into it which is not DVD format it will not allow you to select the spdif output in the options. I do have a 5.1 AC3/DTS amplifier so the pc does not have to decode the audio as the amplifier will do it for me but I need the pc to output the AC3/DTS signal correctly. Power DVD works Perfect on DVD's but the only thing I have found at the moment which will output AC3/DTS on .ts files is VLC media player but it jumps and skips.

You need the deluxe ver of PDVD to play .ts why not just use MPC with Dscaler/Avisynth.
