Hi, I'm new to this forum and hope someone can help answer a connection question from my laptop to an external monitor. My laptop is an HP Pavilion currently running Win 8.1 (but will be upgraded to Win 10 soon). It has USB 3.0 and HDMI ports. I'd like to connect the laptop to a Samsung SyncMaster 244T monitor that has VGA, DVI, S-Video, Composite and Component video connectivity options.
What would be the best choice in an adapter cable - USB 3.0 to VGA, HDMI to VGA, or one of the other options? What considerations do I need to keep in mind? Thank you! |

Welcome to the forum.
The best would be HDMI to DVI. DVI and HDMI use the same video signals so there is no conversion necessary. |

Thanks so much for your help and quick response! That's exactly what I needed to know!! HDMI to DVI is the cable I'll get.
