Default Choosing a TV for an HTPC

How is the best way to choose a TV for a HTPC?

I would presume that all it really needs is and HDMI/DVI port and not much else, sort of like a large monitor.
Do things like "Sharp Aquos" make a difference? Or is it best just to go for the cheapest TV's without bells an whistles? Can most video cards pretty much adjust the picture to the various "modes" TV settings can do? What are some good models/brands?

Thanks for any input!

It depends on how far you are from the TV. I have a 42" LG that I use for recording and watching TV mainly with a computer that is connected to an outdoor antenna for all the local stations. Same TV has been used with both cable and Satellite also. I use it also for playing music I have on the network. And, occasionally I do some things on the internet or just maintenance and updating. Works great as I'm about 12 or 15 feet from it. I have the same setups pretty much in a bedroom and guestroom with a 29" Vizio and a 32" Sceptre where the beds are closer to the TVs. Have no problem with using any of them for any computer usage. I am not a game player so I will not make any comment on how they would work for that. My granddaughter did play some on her Xbox with no problem.

I have a Samsung Smart TV 46" with HTPC. What I did was get a medium price video card with HDMI out, hooked up HDMI cable to TV and a wireless keyboard. I am 8 ft. from TV but do notice if I want to work on PC I get a chair and grab wireless keyboard and go to work about 2 ft from TV. Everything is readable at 8 ft distance just words and numbers are little small. I know I can make words bigger but I like several windows opened at same time that I look at.

I forgot to mention that I run mine at 150% for display and can read almost everything. It will affect some things for overall size but I run into few problems as I use the same on my main pc since I'm an old fart with fading vision.
