Default Less lost - but still desperate and confused

Hi everyone,

I'm just getting started and here's what I have so far.

A Two-year old ACER Aspire 4730 Laptop connected to a new LG LCD 42CS560 HDTV and there are playback issues.

It's my first HDTV - what I wanted was to dump my cable company and watch streaming movies, youtube/vimeo etc movie files and browse the web using Firefox.

I have an hdmi cable connecting the PC to the HDTV and lots of things work, but the Web Browser doesn't, movies don't play so well and there are sound issues that go with that.

Can someone point me toward knowing what this tv/pc pair can and can't do together? The tv was sort of a budget item so money is currently an issue, but more importantly, I'd like to figure out how far I can go with this system and if I can get these basic things to work.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

I would start with updating your drivers.

Since you are getting sound and video it sounds like a driver issue / slower computer.

You also may want to lower the resolution say 720p (1280720) and see if that helps.

Thanks ShowMe. I tried lowering the resolution but for some reason, the DisplayLink Manager resets it to a default 1500 rather than the 720.

I've gotten to where I realize I'm going to need a newer computer to just get past some of the basic problems of hardware/firmware and software issues caused by using an older computer (even if it's only 2 or 3 years old) It'll just take time to get everything organized. But thanks again.
