Question External HD storage suggestion

What would you guys suggest for an external HD for backup/storage between a 2.5 and a 3.5" drive? I know the 2.5 runs off USB and you get more storage with the 3.5 (same price), but are there any other advantages/disadvantages? I'm looking at a Seagate GoFlex 1.5TB ($120) and the WD My Passport Portable 2TB ($199). Thanks!

I use all 3.5" external HDs with their own power supply. I don't like adding power drain to my PC power supplies.

I like using external docks that accept both 2.5 and 3.5 drives and can be hotswapped. Lots of flexibility and easy to upgrade sizes and take advantage of sales.

Also, they run a lot cooler than enclosures.

Stay away from Seagate,, I have more Seagate crashes than anyother hard drive.. The best and longest lasting is the Western Digital Green.. It powers off when it is not in use and has a longer life time BY FAR.. The blue and black are much faster but then again you are not looking for speed.. and if a 1 or 1.5 tb drive crashes and takes all your movies with it,,, you will be pissed...!!!
