Default Firefox Optimized for AOL questions

since I have had firefox as my main browser for maybe the past 6 yrs or so, I have always gotten a notification from firefox to update to the latest version. Now, I am getting a firefox optimized for Aol notice and wondering rather I should download firefox via aol or whatever that is.

Anyone else did this or know if this should be done. I have or should have firefox 9 right now and this should be firefox 10 but i have never been asked to do it via aol. I do have aol set as my homepage but I have had aol set as my homepage for as long as I have been running firefox and never had been asked to do the firefox optimized for aol before.

It sounds like a prompt being generated by that AOL home page. I'd be surprised if it doesn't include an AOL tool bar download that occurs by default (unless you notice and use the option to not install the tool bar).

For the normal Firefox update link try clicking Help|About Firefox on the menu pull down and click the "Check for Updates" button.

robertva is right on. When it comes to AOL, just remember, AOL has never done anything that didn't just benefit AOL. There are much better options for a home page than AOL. Look at both Yahoo and Google which are highly configurable to just the content you want.

The current version is 10.0. Yours is a couple of years old. Since 4 they have been upgrading frequently. You really need to update. Try this

It may have gotten corrupted. That happened to mine a while back and I had to completely reinstall it. You may want to just remove it (save your bookmarks) and do a clean reinstall.
