Default Need help connecting my Dell XPS M1530 to my Sharp Aquos

I live in Japan and I recently bought a Sharp Aquos LC 32 E7 from a friend with the main intention being to connect it to my lap top to view things over the internet. I've just bought a HDMI cable and connected the two pieces of equipment HDMI to HDMI (I'm assuming this is the best way).

I don't really know what to do next. Everything on the TV is in Japanese which shall I say complicates things slightly but I'll get help with that end of things.

If anyone has connected their lap top to a sharp aquos in this way I'd be grateful for your help. Is it just a matter of connecting the things and then finding the best channel to view it on? Is there anything else that I need to consider?

Thanks in advance.

Pete

Basically, if your laptop is set up for HDMI output (video and audio), then hopefully it would just recognize the TV and the TV would have to be set to the HDMI input. Most TVs have a menu choice for language, doesn't yours?
