Default forcing windows media player

In a previous website I had, every computer we tried from, the mp3 links on the website would have the client play from windows-media-player.

The current website we have leaves every client open up on their preferred mp3-player (ie: videolanc, mediaplayer, quicktime, realplayer etc). They can set it with their own browser TOOLS preferences.

My question has to do with forcing the player to be windows-media-player. I don't know how I did it in the prior website but it seems like it forced everyone to that player. Was I crazy, or is there a way to force it?

Thanks in advance.
