Did you know . . .

Olds Engineers styled their 1970 W27 Aluminum Differential after the Quick Change Rear End:

One of the most exotic options ever offered on a muscle car: Olds's 1970 W27 Aluminum Differential. Introduced on 10/10/69 for $157.98 you got some very real benefits:

1. 22 pounds lighter than a cast iron rear - improved handing due to less unsprung weight

2. The aluminum fins on the cover reduced differential temperature by 20 degrees.

3. Held an additional pint of gear oil over a conventional axle.

They may look a bit strange but the standard tire on the 1972 GTO was G70x14 BSW.

Silver was an RPO color on the 1967 GTX but if you wanted it, you paid $20.95 extra. Plymouth called it "special buffed paint" RPO:708

This was the standard position for a 4 speed in a midsize 1969 Chrysler muscle car like the GTX, Charger R/T, Coronet R/T or Road Runner. But if you ordered bucket seats with a console (or a console for cars that came standard with bucket seats), the shifter would interfere with the console

So what Chrysler and Hurst did was design a shifter handle that was offset to the left so the driver didn't have to stretch to shift the car - a unique shifter

Did you know . . .

When Ford introduced the 428 CJ in April of 1968, it was to be available in 4 cars: Mustang GT, Cougar GT-E, Fairlane GT and Cyclone. But . . . only the Mustang and Cougar were available with a 4 speed. The Fairlane and Cyclone - automatic only.
