Whenever I revisit this thread, I stop and stare at some of my favorite musclecars (Pontiacs of course), but it always makes me smile when you post great pics (and info) on some of my other favorite musclecars;

1969 Boss 429 Mustang, 1970 Boss 429 Mustang, 1967 Shelby GT500KR.

1970 Stage 1 GS

1969 Daytona, 1970 Superbird

1969 COPO and ZL-1 Camaro, 1970 Chevelle LS6

Thanks again, you find some great pics.

1973 Nova SS

For 1973, the SS package was strickley for looks. You could order it with ANY engine option including the 6 cylinder. This one has the 350/175 hp engine in it.

1973 Nova SS Package
  • Black grille with argent accent on 2nd and 5th horizontal bars
  • "SS" ornamentation on grille, fender and deck lid
  • Specific body side striping, 2 colors (black or white)
  • Black painted rear end panel with bright trim on tail lamps
  • Dual body-color sport mirrors (LH remote, RH manual)
  • 14x7 Rally Wheels with Special Center Cap
  • Bright roof drip moldings
  • F40 Heavy duty suspension

It is interesting to note that PDB were no longer part of the SS package in 1973. They were an option.

I think I can finally post a few pics.

This is a 1970 GS Stage 1 convertible 4-speed in Diplomat Blue. Very rare car, and the original owner ordered it with wire hubcaps and double-stripe whitewalls. Restored by Level One Restorations.

Did you know . . .

Beginning in 1968 Goodyear used the moniker "GT" to identify it's RWL tires in 15" size with the 1968 Z/28. If it doesn't have "GT" it's a 14" tire

AFAIK, it was. I can't remember any Muscle Car being offered from the factory with a 60 series tire in 14". They were all 15". Are your tires original equipment? Doesn't look like it:

You did not say "original equipment" You stated that the GT stood for 15" tires ....The GT actually stood for 60 series tires.

But this thread is all about original equipment. And if GT stood for 60 series tires, how do you explain the 1968 and 1969 Z/28, the 1969 COPO Camaro with COPO 9737 Wide Tread GT (E70x15 RWL) and the 1969 427 COPO Chevelle with COPO 9737 - F70x15 RWL Wide Tread GT

Did you know . . .

According to Kevin Marti, only 195 1967 Mustang GTs were ordered with the Competition Handling Package ($388); 141 were Fastbacks, 33 Coupes and 21 Convertibles. Ford built 24,078 Mustang GTs in 1967. BTW, all 1967 Shelby GT Mustangs came standard with the CHP.

The tires that came with the CHP were Firestone Sport Car 200 - 6.90 x15 BSW rated at 125 MPH. They are not on this car.

The CHP consisted of: Heavy Duty 3 core radiator, high spring rate front coils and rear leaf springs, a 1.125" heavy-duty front anti-rollbar, adjustable shock absorbers, quick ratio steering, 2.5 turns lock to lock, Equa-lock 3.25 rear end and performance tire (see above) and wheel package (15x6 steel wheels with 15" Galaxie wheel covers).

The option is mentioned very briefly in the Sales Brochure:
