According to the seller of this 1968 Hemi Road Runner, this is the ONLY 1968 Road Runner built with Heater Delete . . . and he claims to have documention backed up by Mopar expert Galen Govier.

Of course, the wheels are incorrect. Should have hubcaps

I find it interesting that Plymouth built 1009 1968 Hemi Road Runners and only one person ordered it as a Heater Delete. Many were ordered/purchased for Drag Racing. Deleting the heater saves weight. It was a common "option" for those cars intended to be used strictly for drag racing as many were.

It may be due to the fact that Plymouth did not publish a Heater Delete credit "option" in their Salesmans Pocket Guide which was used to order a car:

http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/...mouth-01.shtml

So the car above had to have been special ordered by someone who knew how to order a RR with Heater Delete.

1968 Hemi Road Runner - Red with Red Interior (1 of 1)

It's hard to see in this photo but the interior is Red . . . not black - just shadows. Will have to wait for MCACN 2015 for better photos of this unique car.

Did you know . . .

After Lee Iacocca had hired Carroll Shelby to make a race car out of a "secretary's" car . . . Which Shelby did . . . it came time to put a name to this creation. After discussions it was agreed that it would have "GT" in it's name. Finally, Shelby asked one of his engineers sitting at the conference table in the offices, "how far are we from the wrokshop?" The replay was . . . 350 feet.

And so was born the 1965 Shelby GT 350 moniker.

Happy 50th Birthday Chevelle SS 396!

It was February 1965 when Nickey Chevrolet received a Yellow 1965 SS 396 - a prototype that Chevy built to gauge the media's reaction. They welcomed it with such zest that Chevy went ahead and ordered 200 more to be built. Dan Blocker of BONANZA (TV Show) fame was at the event. He was so impressed with the car that he bought it on the spot.

Did you know . . .

This photo of driver Ken Miles and his GT 350R with all four wheels in the air was shot by noted photographer Bob Jackson. Jackson's most famous photo was capturing Jack Ruby shooting Lee Harvey Oswald.

As you know ( ) I am a lover of the Thunderbird Sports Roadster. They stop making them in 1963 but the tonneau cover was continued as an after-market item and many found their way on 1964 to 1966 cars which is what this one is. Something about a BIG two seat convertible that "tickles my fancy." Not sure which car the "two-tone" striped tires went with but IMO, they look great on this car
