Did you know . . .

Chevrolet had experimented with a 4 seat Corvette in 1963. They built a running prototype which you see in the photo below. Larry Shinoda did the styling for this unique Corvette. He added 10 inches to the wheelbase to fit the second set of seats. When the idea was rejected, the car went to the crusher.

Did you know . . .

In 1964 if you wanted a 426/365hp engine in your Plymouth, you had a choice: 4 speed or Auto. Both were included in the price of the 426.

It is interesting to note that you could have ordered yourself a "street sleeper" Muscle Car from Plymouth for less than $2900:

1964 Savoy 2 Dr Sedan with:

Power Brakes
Power Steering
AM Radio
Commando 426 w/ 4 Speed

MSRP: $2881.10

I believe that was less than the new GTO with compatible options. But you didn't get the "package" that the GTO represented with it's emblems, bucket seats, Redline tires and scooped hood. All you got was a "plain jane" grocery getter with a taxi cab interior . . . and 365 HP!

Less than 100 1964 Savoys were sold in the above configuration. Pontiac sold over 32,000 GTOs in 1964.

1969 L78 SS 396 Chevelle - Special Paint: Rallye Green

This is the only known 1969 Rallye Green L78 SS 396 Chevelle. Rallye Green was a standard color on the Camaro and the Nova in 1969, but not the Chevelle.

Did you know . . .

For the 1970 Nova SS, both the 350 and 396/350hp did not use an A.I.R. pump. They both used the new TCS: Transmission Controlled Spark emissions control system. Only the L78 used the A.I.R Pump
