You are looking under the hood of a 1963 T-Bird. I draw your attention to the very large power steering fluid reservoir. There is a reason it is so big. The Thunderbird used a hydraulic variable speed windshield wiper motor (as seen below), powered by the power steering pump.

While the power steering pump did furnish power for the windshield wipers (actually through the 1966 T-Bird) that Eaton pump and reservoir was used on practically all Ford cars of that era including Mustang, Fairlane, Falcon and others. They are quite a power drag and are are replaced with Saganaw type pumps by many old Ford owners.

Lee, I tried to use this as a quote and somehow it ended up as an edit. I don't know what happened to cause this. So maybe you can repost the photos?

This 1968 Cougar has some serious ride-height issues. But . . . . It is real easy to clean the wheel wells.

Here is a 69 (same suspension) with the correct ride-height:

Did you know, Lee, that the PO5 option, honeycomb wheels, were available on 1970 firebird but not on GTO. Never seen one though. I always thought that these had started in 1971.
