Why Do Most Car Movies Suck?

Quote:
Are cars in movies these days? Yes. Are they fun to watch? Not so much. Cars and movies are roughly the same age, but they've never really gotten along. What's wrong with this (motion) picture?

I don't think the use of the descriptor "most" is correct. There are good car movies and there are bad car movies. Seems like the author even covered them equally. Maybe we should start our own list.

I'll start with my good:
Christine
American Graffiti
Bullitt

I will add to it:

Vanishing Point
Two Lane Blacktop
Smokey And The Bandit

And I will start with my bad:

Gumball Rallye
Fast & Furious 2, 3 and 4
Gone In 60 Seconds (Nick Cage)

We are headed towards proving the title wrong!!

Seems like we have more good than bad so far.

How 'bout My Mother the Car the Movie??? Oh yeah, it was so bad they didn't end up making it.

First off - let me say that the writer of that blog is an asshole.

He doesn''t consider BULLITT a good movie.

I have not seen any of those.

While not car movies per se, the Bond movies all had interesting cars. Goldfinger crushed a Lincoln and carried it off in a Falcon Ranchero! Yeah, right. That Ranchero wouldn't be able to move with 6,000 pounds in the bed.

Then the Matt Helm movie with that trick T-Bird.

I have - most of them (). The best of the worst IMO is - The Car. You should rent it. On a scale of 1 to 10 = 6. the car and car stunts are good - it's the movie that is bad. George Barris designed The Car.

LOL, I think the only "super spy" who didn't have any car let alone a cool one was Derek Flint - In Like Flint and Our Man Flint. Great movies BTW.

I also didn't care for gone in 60 seconds. Kind of a big bag of suck to me.

What a joke, use an electronic gadget thingy, VROOM, VROOM,VROOM, stole another one.
