Exclamation Vizio E550VA/ and HDMI connections...

Hey there everyone im new to the forum... i just bought a Vizio E550VA about 2 months ago from Costco, i hooked up my PS3 via HDMI, i turn on my TV and switch to HDMI Port 1 where the PS3 is hooked up in, turn on the PS3 and it takes a good 7-8 seconds for the TV to get any signal, before the PS3 home screen pops up i get a "No signal" on the screen , I thought it was the HDMI cable so i went out and bought some different ones a little thicker, and the same problem acquired, so i switched HDMI ports and still doing it.... i thought i was maybe a problem with my PS3 so i tried out my HD cable box and when i switch to and HD channel i get picture but then the sound is about 6-7 behind, and then on some channels the sound will be off from the picture. i again tested different cables and still same problem. I have my Wii hooked up via component cables and the picture and sound comes right up with no problem, i havnt tried my HD cable box via component cable just yet, but ill try that when i get home...

anyone run into this problem with the VIZIO? any help would be great thanks....

Sounds like a HDMI handshake issue on the TV side. Costco has a great return/exchange policy, so I would go that route asap.. You can probably find a better deal now anyway. But if you really like the set otherwise, exchange as it is probably just a defective panel.

O.K. You mentioned 2 months ago, so you really meant 2 weeks ago. I think Costco has a 90 day return/exchange policy on TV's, so you are fine for a while.

Handshake issue is basically issues with the HDMI making a "handshake" between the 2 devices.. In this case the TV and PS3 and TV and cable box. Video/audio drop outs or no screen are the symptoms. You can try unplugging everything for about 10 minutes or so. The turn on the TV and then the device. If you still are having issues with both devices, I would return the TV.

Default Vizio Audio analog (red & white RCA jacks) output problem

I bought an E550VL at Sams on 11-28-2010. I am now having an Audio analog (red & white RCA jacks) output problem. I hooked up my Sennheiser headphones, and it worked great, but the next day one of the headphone channels dropped out, i thought it was a loose connection to the VCR composite RCA plugs, because when i wiggled it at the VCR the sound came back on. But it has happened two more times, and not only when using the VCR, but also in HDMI-1 mode at the timeWarner set top box. The second time this happened it seemed as though i had fixed it by switching between fixed and variable on the Audio Advanced menu, but it has happened again, and that fix is not working, instead after I fiddled with the advanced audo fixed vs. variable to no avail. a minute later, inexplicably both channels chimed in, I was on the Hdmi-1 when it came back. A week later and it is still happening but not all the time, sometimes it takes 30-60 seconds to get the headphones to work, other times they come on right away, sand sometimes only one left or right chanel works, but eventually they will both come on. On the plus side, once they finally connect, they do stay connected. I too dread lugging this 55" monster back to the store, possibly only to get another one with the same problem!?
