Hey guys I need help on getting my questions answered cause Cable companies around my area ignore my questions.

I live out in the country and only have access to either dial up or satellite and both of those suck and I want/need high speed internet. I live right outside a small town that has mediacom but my address has a different city but I'm no where close to there. I live not to far from another town that has wireless dsl but can't receive a signal because of the terrain and too many trees, and that town also has mediacom.

Also I have looked into Wireless internet from cellular companies and it is as expensive as satellite and doesn't seem fast enough for heavy online gaming, also where I live there is barely a signal, so I couldn't get it anyways.

My question is, how can I get these internet companies to expand to us? Do I have to wait for the cable companies to decide that it is worth expanding? Or can I go to the city and ask them to expand and drill some lines or something?

Any info would be great, thanks.

What area then? High Speed Internet can be apart of cable and I don't know if a area just for internet exists, if so please shoot me a link to a different forum that does.

Mediacom and Stouffer Communications. I have tried contacting them with the same questions and they have ignored my messages.

I was just wanting to know if you could request the companies or the city to dig the cable lines to me, but since I can't find any info about that I am assuming that isn't possible.

I guess I will just have to wait and be patient.

Thanks for the website it was interesting and if anyone comes across this and has any info please post it here as I will check back every so often. Thanks.

Your phone company does not offer (semi) high speed DSL? We use DSL (6 Mb/sec)-- it is pretty good. It's not nearly as fast as my cable at home (about 3 miles away). My office is in a fairly large city in one of the largest industrial parks in the midwest-- but I can not get cable. The cable company said the closest connection was like 1.5 miles away and if we wanted to pay about $10K, they would hook us up.

Seems odd you can't get something better than dial up-- hell, people on airplanes can do better than that . . . at 25,000 feet going nearly 500 MPH.
