Default bill is getting out of hand

Im in michigan and have WOW cable. I just upgraded to the hd box, my package includes High speed internet, 2 hd boxes, only 22 hd channels, hbo and stars packages and my bill is now over $150 a month does anyone around have a better price for cable. I would only switch to satelite if it was wayyyy cheaper (bad experiences in the past)

Your bill is really not that bad. Me setup is basically the same as yours (HS internet, 2 hd boxes) but me only has Cinemax and about 10 HD channels. And 8 of those channels are nothing but upconverted SD. Me bill with comcast is $180 a month.

From the FWIW department...

Here we have Cox High Speed Internet (HSI), digital phone and HD service including one HD DVR. In our case we pay $171 per month total. The cable TV portion of our bill is $87.

We currently get 26 HD channels including HD On Demand (which we never use) and HBO HD. You could, if you subscribe to all the tiers and premium channels, get up to 29 HD channels. We do not subscribe to Cinemax HD, Showtime HD or Startz! HD.

Apparently HGTV HD and Food Network HD are coming soon so that will make 28 HD channels that we will get without subscribing to additional premium channels.

Ha! Amateurs.

I'm in Manhattan and have TWC. My package includes 2 HD DVRs, high speed internet, phone, and WAYYYY too many movie channels (my wife insists---HBO, Showtime, Starz, and Cinemax, plus all their sister channels). We pay about $215/mo. Yikes.

me thought that me bill was getting out of hand, and then me mail arrived today with Comcast's christmas present. And you can guess that it be another price increase. Basically another $5 per month. me started with comcast a year and 1/2 ago - for the same service it was $132 (+change). With the new increase it will be $187 (+ change). Me bill has gone up $55 bucks in 18 months - the only change me has made is added one more DVR. Me gets 18 HD channels, 6 of those are local (which me receives OTA for clarity). The 12 other channels are HD some of the time - and some of that time it is upconverted. What it all boils down to is $187 bucks a month for HS internet and about 3-4 channels of HD programming. The HS speed internet is great, comcast does a good job. The HD programming, and even the regular programming is daggy at best and a ripoff at worst. Sorry to vent but me is just having a comcastic day.

When you mention 19 HD channels - does this include locals, and what percentage of the of the other channels do you consider "true" HD?

My direcTV bill is $109 per month. I have almost every channel. If something is missing then it is something I don't watch. I have about 25 premium movie channels - Starz, HBO, Showtime etc etc. Lots and lots of HD. I would be happy with 1/4 of it to be truthful and probably don't need to be paying more than $50 or $60 per month. I can't compare it to cable since cable isn't available where I live but I would imagine I don't miss it.
