That's why I'm asking. I am renting the two tuner HD Comcast box and I know Tivo has an HD box for Direct TV but not for cable yet. Seems all the technology is in place but Tivo isn't there yet. Could be waiting to incorporate Blue Ray or some such thing. I just hate the Comcast (Motorola?) box. Crappy software.

Which Moto are you using?I've been told that Comcast/Tivo wont be avail;able till sometime in the summer, late August I've heard but not sure how reliable the date is.Its weird, Ihear so many complaints about the Moto's but I have never really had any major problems yet my dad has had some bad boxes over the last year or so.I'm not sure but the STB's I have seem to have the most problems when hooked up with HDMI,not sure if its just me or actually a problem but the STB I have hooked up with components has NEVER had ANY problems yet the 2 others I have using HDMI have experianced a few problems also my dad's using HDMI had done some similiar problems.

the problems with moto 3412 are numerous. you set it to record new episodes only and it doesn't....it will stop recording a show for no reason....watch a show while it is recording then play it back and it hesitates and volume cuts out......the machine is archaic....I would pay 200 for a comcast hd/tivo right now.....not to mention the freeze up if you try to change the channels to fast....or the ocasional green screen I get......

But thats just it,you have switched. Now I dont know your reasons obviously but something made you and many others switch. My parents had DTV/Tivo before and I still dont know what all the hype is about. Its not exactly the holy grail of STB's either.Believe me,I hate Comcast for many reasons, namely because I hate the monopoly it has become but IMO its just a "grass being greener on the other side" effect. If DTV/Tivo was sooo perfect, then Comcast would be in a hurt, which it obviously is not.

- I had Dtv and Tivo for 3 years. Loved it and hated to watch it go when I switched to Comcast two weeks ago. As soon as I got the HD DVR comcast box I had ALL the same problems you are having above. ALL OF THEM. It was killing me, killing my wife, who wanted to kill me because I took her TIVO away.
Anyway, I ended up taking the box back to Comcast and they gave me a new one, no questions asked, and it works PERFECTLY. Both Tuners work and can record at the same time, no more freezing.
Everything is fine now and Comcast is growing on me. If I were you, go get a new box. It made all the difference for me.

I am in the same boat now. I just suspended my DTV account for the summer and switched to Comcast. I was hoping to save some money this summer till NFL season. The wife hates the DVR (or lack there of) features with the Comcast DVR. So much for saving money. I will be hooking up DTV this weekend and taking the Comcast boxes back next week.

FWIW, I nearly went totally postal when I first had the Motorola, but after a couple days it has gotten much easier to operate. Sure, it's an inferior user interface when compared to Tivo, but the HD package is so much better and it won't be long before they have the Tivo box out (I hope.) Maybe just give it a few days before you go through the hassle.

DTV is active once again. I am just waiting for the wife to finish the Soaps she DVR'd on the Comcast 3412 befoe sending all (but one) cable box back. We are keeping a 6412 for the family room (to watch and DVR HD local programming).

I bumped Comast to Cable basic (about 13 channels), HD locals and HBO & Cinemax (deal was $14.99 a month for both premiums channels).
