Default does anyone have info on more HD channels?

i have boston comcast and i think we have about 10 HD channels right now. is there any information on when some of the other channels will be broadcasting in HD (such as National Geographic Channel, FOXNews, The Food Network, IFC, Sundance, MTV, E!, etc.)??????
I've been trying to find this out for a while now with no luck.....

MTV and National Geographic are launching HD versions sometime next year ... of course that's no guarantee you'll get them on Comcast anytime soon.

I think you should be getting FOX in HD. Here on the Cape we get it, and it comes from Boston.

I just spoke with a very knowledgable woman from Comcast and she stated that there is a problem with the amount of bandwith that they have available to offer new HD channels.
she explained to me that there are still many folks who don't have digital cable and somehow that messes up their ability to have the bandwith room to add more HD.
oh well......

Yes it's a known fact that bandwidth is a MAJOR factor in HD being produced more. Right now if we were to have HALF of the channels go HD, cable/sat. would not be able to send them to us (in the MPEG 2 format.)

That is why you may here of MPEG 4 format that 'shrinks' the amount of info that is sent to us and allowing more channels but not 'shrinking' the quality. Plus broadband internet.

Lack of content is not new. Once you go HD you never go back so in-turn you want all these 'good' channels switch to HD. It will all be a LONG time in coming, so just try and sit still and be patient. Trust me I'm not.

Well, has anyone received notices like i did a few weeks ago about digital channels being removed in the next two months. I forget which stations they are, but I know that three SD channels will be getting removed from my service. Hopefully this is a prelude to a new HD station being added. I went through the ropes with my local area rep, who is in Chicago, clueless, basically comes down to waiting, for how long, NO IDEA. I was upset and wanting more HD channels, but now just grinning and bearing it for now.

wow discovery hd is available from comcast. seems like they put up 1 channel every 2-3 months up here. we got.......

pbs
abc
nbc
cbs
wb
upn
fox
wmur (which is basically a second more local abc)
tnt
discovery
espn
inhd1
inhd2
hbo
cinemax
starz
shotime

and we just got 5 mysterious blank stations that are just following the hd section. so i think there about to add a few channels. maybe next year. hope one of them is usa or fx.

Wow, that is quite a lineup bboncorr. No TNT, INHD2 or Discovery for Cablevision of NJ yet... but we do get YES and MSG (regional sports networks).
