Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD DVR problem

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this and if it's not hopefully a mod will direct me to the right place.

I have a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD DVR and im having a huge problem with it. I have a ton of shows saved on my DVR and today it won't play them. It worked fine last night before bed and out of nowhere this happened. If I click play show it will keep taking you back to the main listing rather than playing the shows i want to watch. It is/was 81% filled up, and I deleted some of the shows I didnt watch(Went from around 40 shows to 25) and it is still showing 81% filled nor will it play.

Anyone have ANY idea on what to do here? I really don't want to lose these shows but as of now its looking like I dont have much of an option. It sucks as well because there was some I haven't got to watch yet.

Any help is greatly appreciated

If you have not tried already, unplu the box for about 10 or 15 minutes and see what happens.. If not I would call your cable provider and see if they have a fix. The HD may be going and might be time for a replacement box.

I'll try the unplug and report back. My sister said it did this before and the only way they could get the DVR to work is to reset everything and lose it all. Hopefully unplugging works.

Thanks for the quick response!

The unplugging trick worked! It still shows 81% full but the shows will now play fine.

Thanks alot!

Powering On & Off

I have a SCIENTIFIC ATLANTA 8300HD DVR and when not in use you can hear it power on & off, I'd say about 10 to 15 times an hour. I've asked Techs & they say that is normal...Anyone else agree with this or have a solution? Thanks!

Explorer8300 is dead.

I have a Explorer8300 box. Had a short power outage and the box went dead. Also have a second newer box which rebooted no problem. I have unplugged the Explorer box multiple times and each time the “boot” signal comes up for about 10 seconds then I can hear the box click off and its dead. I own the box so provider won’t do anything for me. Any suggestions.
Thanks.
