Arrow Sony UHD Blu-ray with Dolby Vision

When Sony announced its UBP-X700, it became the first UHD Blu-ray player from the Japanese company to support Dolby Vision. However, the more expensive X800 and X1000 players were stuck on base HDR10.

The company has no plans to bring Dolby Vision to its previous players. Instead, Sony will release a refreshed UBD-X800M2 that will support HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG. It also handles Hi-Res Audio, which is not supported on the current X700.

- “The X800M2 supports 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray playback and HDR formats including HDR10, Dolby Vision and Hybrid Log Gamma to deliver stunning picture quality to your home. 4K upscaling is also possible with the X800M2, transforming everything you watch so you can enjoy highly detailed pictures even with non 4K content,” the company said.

Sony UBP-X800M2 will be available from May. Pricing will be announced later.

Now Lee your a smart guy I known you here for years ,but you know Dolby Vision is myth ,right? To see true Dolby Vision you need a 12 bit panel. Do we have 12 bit panels? No we don't and there is no talk of that happening. So i wish this website and other review sites stop this stuff because people spending their hard earned dollar are getting stiffed,it's not right. I believe what people with a Dolby Vision set up is really seeing HDR 10+. Dolby is just painting there Dolby Vision logo over the HDR10+ logo. Like I said without a 12 bit panel you can't see true DV like in a Dolby theater, it's not possible ,common sense tells the story.
