Quote:
Cambridge Audio, the British company known for its HiFi sound systems and speakers, has made its debut on UHD content reproduction with their first ever 4K UHD Universal Blu-Ray player, the CXUHD.

Cambridge’s CXUHD is a universal Blu-ray model compatible with UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, CD and with virtually any type of audio, image or video file formats. The new 4K UHD Blu-ray player of course also supports HEVC, H.264, VP9 4K and Hi10P video decoding.

The new device is capable of reproducing 4K UHD content with a resolution up to 3840 x 2160, and supports both HDR10 and Dolby Vision high dynamic range formats, delivering striking highlights, 1.07 billion colors, and intense contrast range details. Most exciting here is the Dolby Vision support since the format results in a higher quality, more precisely delivered type of HDR for the 4K Blu-ray discs and 4K HDR TVs that also support Dolby Vision. At this time, Dolby Vision-enabled 4K TV models consist of all of LG’s 2016/2017 4K HDR TVs, all of Sony’s premium televisions from the X930E on upwards and both Vizio’s and TCL’s P-Series 4K HDR television models. No Samsung TVs support Dolby Vision for the time being.

Being a Cambridge Audio device, the CXUHD’s audio has been treated with special care. The CXUHD has been designed without DACs “to reduce noise and to improve audio and picture quality”, as stated by the company. It comes with internal pass-through of Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio, as well as bitstream pass-through for position-based immersive audio formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS: X.
Quote:
The new Cambridge CXUHD will arrive in the UK in September for a price of £700, (equal to $1240 USD). There’s no word at this time about a U.S release but since 4K UHD Blu-ray discs are not regionally formatted, anyone buying a model from overseas can presumably use it to play U.S-released 4K Blu-ray discs and other media without a hitch.
